Bio
With an MBA since 2004, I had worked for 15 years in human resources in China where my first-hand experiences with employee wellbeing prompted me to pursue advanced studies in marriage counseling/couple therapy with international psychotherapists. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor in China, I founded a well-respected and highly successful marriage counseling practice in 2010. Since 2016, sponsored by the US Department of Health and Human Services, I have been entrusted to start "The Secrets of Love Program” in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area, which has benefited the community in healthy marriage, parenting skills, and pre-marital education via workshops, family camps, and counseling sessions. To reach out to the larger Chinese community around the world, I have also created a free weekly online advice program called "Ask Zhiyun for Love," which directly or indirectly affects families a week with topic-specific issues about family and marriage. So far, my clinical experiences in one-on-one counseling and therapy and group education in marriage, relationship, and parenting art and skills have exceeded 10,000 hours, through which more than 1000 families have overcome emotional predicament and found real happiness at home.

The First Step
Marriage is not only a matter of emotion, but also an important event linked to each other's health and the child's physical and mental health. Seems to be a trivial matter by 69% of the disagreements arising from minor trivia in life, but it is such an annoyance that there is no solution to the problem and the disaster caused by these trivial matters.

Therapeutic Approach
My work is based on the Gottman approach, which I combine with elements of Emotionally Focused couple thearpy and Neuro Linguistic programming Therapy. I will support you in finding balance in your life while helping you meet and get to know your authentic self. Our research shows that to make a relationship last, couples must become better friends, learn to manage conflict, and create ways to support each other’s hopes for the future. Drs. John and Julie Gottman have shown how couples can accomplish this by paying attention to what they call the Sound Relationship House, or the nine components of healthy relationships. I am one of only a handful of therapists in Chinese that is fully trained level 1 & 2 in the Gottman method.
